The ‘Made in Egypt’ exhibition at the Doha Exhibition Centre has been drawing an increasing number of visitors, organisers said yesterday.
The exhibition was inaugurated by HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa al-Thani, minister of municipality and urban planning, on Wednesday.
The seven-day exhibition sees participation from 220 Egyptian companies which are displaying various industrial, commercial and real estate products.
Praising the quality of the products, Sheikh Abdulrahman said the relations between Qatar and Egypt are strong, with scope for a considerable growth in mutual co-operation, particularly in economy, in the near future.
Visiting Egyptian Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, Hatem Saleh, said that the exhibition enjoyed participation from Egyptian companies across the spectrum - small, midsized as well large.
He pointed out that small and midsizes Egyptian industries have registered a steep growth in terms of quality and quantity.
“The exhibition is a great beginning for more Egyptian exhibitions in Qatar. Further, we are very hopeful that Qatari-Egyptian investment and economic co-peration would see tremendous development in the future. We have also given special priority to resolve the issues of the Qatari investors in Egypt and most of these have already been settled,” Saleh said.
The Egyptian ambassador to Qatar, Mohammad Mursi Awad, said that so far the exhibition is the largest to be organised outside Egypt. “It also lends a great support to the growing Egyptian
industry.”
The exhibition offers Qatari and expatriate investors business opportunities with the participating Egyptian firms in the form of partnership and joint ventures.
Most visitors to the event saw that the prices of goods on display are affordable and reasonable compared with other products from different countries of the same quality. The products on display include furniture, clothes, food items, carpets, gifts, and decoration items. Egyptian expatiates could also buy real estate units in Egypt directly through some of the
participating companies.
The exhibition also features Egyptian cultural shows with folk performances and a display of miniature Egyptian museum.
