Prominent Qatari businessman Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah bin Thani al-Thani was presented with a “lifetime achievement award” at Ernst & Young’s “Growing Beyond Summit 2012” at the Ritz-Carlton.

The award, which was in recognition of Sheikh Thani’s contributions to the industry and economy in Qatar, was presented by HE the Minister for Finance and Economy Yousef Hussein Kamal.
“I am pleased to receive this award from Ernst & Young. Ezdan will continue with its development initiatives in the real estate sector and support the Qatari and GCC communities,” Sheikh Thani, also chairman of Ezdan said.
Ernst & Young Qatar managing partner Firas Qoussous, said, “Over the last 50 years, Sheikh Thani has managed to create one of the largest real estate development companies in the region. His vision and management philosophy turned Ezdan into an influential player in the real estate sector. Its great success has made Ezdan one of Qatar’s most established and successful real estate development and management companies.”
Originally known as Thani Bin Abdullah Housing Group, Ezdan became a limited liability company in 1993. In 2006 the Group’s real estate investments were transferred to a new entity known as the Iskan Real Estate Company.
In 2006, its name was changed to Ezdan Real Estate Company and it became a Qatari shareholding company, launching on the Qatar Exchange in 2008. At present Ezdan’s share capital amounts to QR26.525bn, which is the largest capital nominal value of a company listed on the Qatar Exchange.
