The University of Calgary (UCQ) and Qatar University 1 (QU1) have reached the final of the Qatar Universities League after playing two exciting semi-finals.
The battle for the title is set for an 8pm start on November 30 at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre Pitch 1.
Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC), who were beaten by UCQ in the semi-final, and Qatar University 3 (QU3), who were beaten by QU1, will play the third and fourth place decider before the final at 7pm.
The award ceremony and dinner will be held immediately after the final match at the Recreation Centre in Qatar Foundation (QF) to honour the top four teams. Also, Best Player, Top Scorer and Best Goalkeeper will be announced at the award ceremony.
Khalid al-Kuwari, director of Marketing and Communications at Qatar Football Association (QFA) said: “Excitement levels are rising as we get closer to the end of the Qatar Universities Football League. We are thrilled to find out who will be this year’s champion and congratulate the four teams who made it to the final stages of the tournament as well as all the other participating teams, they all played so well and displayed good sportsmanship.”
He added: “Organising this tournament with QF showcases QFA’s commitment in nurturing the football culture in Qatar, especially amongst the youth. It also highlights QFA’s efforts in encouraging the youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle through playing football.”
Sponsored by Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, the Qatar Universities Football League is organised by Qatar Foundation, in collaboration with QFA.
The action-packed tournament kicked-off on October 24. The competition involved a total of 17 teams from 12 colleges and universities across Qatar.
