The Algerian operations of Ooredoo - Nedjma Ooredoo - celebrated the Algerian national team’s qualification for the 2014 World Cup, following their 1-0 victory against Burkina Faso in their World Cup play-off second leg this week.
As the official sponsor of the national team, Nedjma Ooredoo has been engaged with the team’s efforts since 2010. With Algeria now set to make its fourth appearance in the World Cup, the hopes of millions of Arabs and North Africans go with them as well as the enthusiastic support of Nedjma Ooredoo.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud al-Thani, chairman, Ooredoo, said: “Sport unites us all, and it is a huge source of pride that Algeria has qualified for the 2014 World Cup. Ooredoo is delighted to be the official sponsor of the Algerian national team and to share the excitement with the people of Algeria.”

At the end of the game, Ooredoo’s new television commercial starring football hero Lionel Messi was screened for the first time, watched by more than 30mn Algerians. In this second TV ad, after listening to the famous “Maak yal Khedra” (“With the Greens”) song, Messi says: “Ooredoo, always with you.”
To celebrate the victory, Nedjma Ooredoo announced an extensive communication campaign to congratulate “The Greens” across a range of media channels.
Earlier this month, Nedjma officially rebranded as Ooredoo. In support of the rebrand, the company has launched a number of special initiatives to demonstrate its strong roots in the country, including a broad range of sports sponsorships as well as programmes aimed at encouraging youth entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.
