The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) yesterday concluded an industrial security workshop for GCC officers.
The workshop was organised in co-operation with Qatar Petroleum (QP) and saw the participation of 30 officers from various GCC countries and personnel from the Ministry of Interior (MoI), particularly the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya).
The workshop was conducted as part of the implementation of recommendations by Ministers of Interior of GCC countries.
The graduation ceremony, held at GDCD’s Wadi al-Sail headquarters yesterday, was attended by Brigadier Aman Saad al-Sulaiti, Assistant Director-General of GDCD; Brigadier Jamal Jafar al-Ajmi, Assistant Director of the Operations Department at GDCD; and Colonel Fahd Hamad al-Kubaisi, Director of the Administrative Affairs Department; along with other senior MoI officials and Abdulla al-Jabir, Director of QP’s risk management department.
Brig al-Sulaiti stressed that the course was mainly aimed at focusing on industrial security and introducing its role in security operations.
He said the course is considered important for its targeted category of officers as it enables them to exchange ideas and experiences on related issues.
He further pointed out that co-ordination with QP in preparing such a course was greatly instrumental in enhancing its value and content.
The course topics included the concepts of industrial security and its applications, wealth and national security, tasks and duties of industrial security, and security planning and risk management, among others.
As the graduation ceremony concluded, Brig al-Sulaiti handed over certificates to the participants and wished them further success in future.
