Qatar is the second largest market for the ultra-luxury Chopard products in the Middle East, Karl Friedrich Scheufele, co-president of Chopard said.
Alfardan Jewellery is the official distributor of Chopard in Qatar.
Speaking to Gulf Times during his visit to Doha, Karl said that Dubai, Doha and Kuwait are the three major markets for Chopard in the region.
“We have the highest number of outlets and boutiques in the Middle East. There are 73 outlets in the Middle East and eight of them are in Doha. This is more than 10%,” Karl said.
He said Qatar was a very important market for Chopard for various other reasons too.
“We foresee large growth on account of the 2022 football World Cup. There is also a large-scale building boom for infrastructure development all across the country. This is the perfect timing for our brand to target more sections of customers. Our network with Alfardan has helped us to consolidate our position in the market.”
The Chopard official also said it is the 20th anniversary of the Episcope collection which is the icon of Chopard.
“Episcope is a sport watch and now we have come out with an automatic version. There is a big demand for mechanical watches. We have also come out with a limited edition of the same in platinum and only 150 pieces are available all over the world.”
The co-president of Chopard said his company’s products are ready to meet any competition in the market.
“Competition is always there in any market and we are aware of the strong competition in a small market like Doha. But we have so many niche products as well as a very solid customer base. Moreover, Alfardan is a reputable distributor in the country with a very strong network and command in the market. This has helped us overcome any strong competition and emerge as the market leader.”
