Companies operating in the Industrial Area have been advised to use proper locking systems and deploy well-trained security guards to prevent untoward incidents at their facilities.
These and a host of other suggestions were put forward during the second discussion forum for companies working in the Industrial Area, organised by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on November 3.
The forum, “Together against crime”, was aimed at raising the security awareness of the companies and improving their skills in detecting fraudsters in co-operation with security agencies in the country.
The forum was attended by Lt Col Sultan al-Kaabi, head of the Community Policing Section in Rayyan Security Department; Maj Khalifa Mohamed al-Atiyya, head of Rayyan Investigation; Saud Ali al-Tamimi, director of the Road Projects Department at the Public Works Authority (Ashghal); and Jabir Ali al-Marri from the Inspection and Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Labour.
The head of Criminal Investigation at Rayyan Security urged the company representatives to use strong locking systems for their facilities to prevent theft.
He also asked the attendees to report any suspicious vehicle or activity and urged residents to carry their ID cards while going out. The participants were asked to contact the Criminal Investigation section of different security departments (Capital - 66819393, Shamal - 66817474, South - 66819595, Dukhan- 66831212 and Rayyan - 66817373) when required.
Maj al-Attiya said the MoI is keen to build a real partnership with companies in the Industrial Area in order to ensure their safety and reduce crimes. Lt Col al-Kaabi explained the concept of community policing, which calls for a permanent partnership between the police, community members and civil institutions.
Al-Tamimi pointed out that the State has allocated QR4bn for the Industrial Area’s development, which will be spent over six stages. The first stage involves development of the old Industrial Area at a cost of QR1.3bn. It aims to make the Industrial Area an integrated zone with modern infrastructure.
