HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi inaugurated the Al Jemailiyah Veterinary Centre yesterday.
Speaking to reporters after opening the centre, the minister said that his Ministry is seeking to expand veterinary services by opening more centres.
He said Qatar, under the guidance of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, is keen to provide the best veterinary services, in order to contribute to the provision of food security in the country.
The Minister said that Al Jemailiyah Veterinary Centre will cover a large segment, pointing out that Qatar has been interested in raising livestock and taking care of them from a long time ago.
He said the centre, staffed by qualified personnel, is now ready to offer its services.
Al-Humaidi also underlined the role played by the media in creating awareness among livestock breeders in terms of prevention from diseases that infect animals as well as treatment.
Following the inauguration, the Minister, accompanied by Dr Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser al-Thani, director of the Department of Agricultural Research and Development at the Ministry of Environment, and several officials of the Ministry and members of the Central Municipal Council, toured the different departments and units of the centre and was briefed on the functions and services provided by them.
