Ibtihaj al-Hamadani inaugurating the 2012 Hya Exhibition yesterday at the Doha Exhibition Centre
The 2012 Hya Exhibition, described as the Middle East’s largest abaya exhibition, was inaugurated yesterday at the Doha Exhibition Centre.
Qatar Chamber member Ibtihaj al-Hamadani cut a ribbon opening the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) organised event which runs until September 29.
The third edition of the exhibition showcases the region’s finest fashion in abayas, kaftans and stylish evening gowns with designers coming from Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
“This year’s exhibition is not only the largest yet, but also features the largest number of Qatari designers,” stated Lahdan Ghanim al-Mohannadi, head of organising internal exhibition and exhibition services department at QTA.
A total of 63 designers from Qatar, 12 from Kuwait, 46 from Bahrain, nine from Saudi Arabia, and 16 from the UAE are participating.
Hya Exhibition is one of the five annual events organised by QTA to enable and develop the local tourism industry.
The 2012 Hya Exhibition is open from 11am to 10pm from Sunday to Thursday and from 2pm to 10pm on Friday. Entry is free.
