Mannai Corporation has announced the retirement of one of their longest serving employees.
Walter Serrao (pictured) worked with the company for 36 years, mainly as general manager of Manweir.
Group CEO and director Alekh Grewal said yesterday Mannai Corporation owes Serrao a debt of gratitude for his loyal and unstinting commitment.
Serrao has been instrumental in Manweir’s growth and compliance to quality management systems making it an ISO 9001 QMS certified company, Grewal said.
Serrao said: “Looking back from where I started in the 1970s, I am very pleased to have served this great company. From the beginning, our vision was to provide efficient, quality engineering and support services to the operators in the oil and gas sector. This has been established.  Now is the right time to step down. Manweir has demonstrated its position in the field it serves, and I am confident that it will continue in its success.”
Serrao managed the company’s facilities in the Salwa Industrial Area and later, under his leadership, expanded its operations to RasLaffan Industrial City.
The state-of-the-art infrastructure in RLIC was inaugurated earlier this year having a total area of 46,000sqm. It currently covers a workspace of 7,500sqm with three large bays that house an Advanced Machining Centre, Electrical Repair Solutions and the Heavy Mechanical Service Centre.
Walter has handed over the reigns to Michael Rau who comes with more than 25 years of experience.
