The Qatar Olympic Sports Museum, in partnership with the National Football Museum (Manchester, United Kingdom), is planning to organise the greatest ever international exhibition of football - ‘We Speak Football.’
The exhibition will be an audio-visual and interactive experience celebrating players, coaches and fans. The visitors will travel back to the origin of the game, relive the history of the World Cup, and meet stars and fans. The audience will be further engaged with a section dedicated to the local football cultures. Finally, visitors can test their football skills, take a penalty, or lead their team to become the champion in the latest video games.
An additional attraction will be a series of activities including talks about the socio-cultural aspects of the game as well as events engaging the local community in actively playing football. The exhibition will travel around the globe for the next nine years, with its first stop in Brazil in 2014 and its final show in Doha, in 2022.
“Football is the most popular global sport and it makes sense to stage ‘We Speak Football’ in co-operation with an international partner. We are very pleased to have this partnership with the National Football Museum to realise an exhibition of such a scale,” said Christian Wacker, director of the Qatar Olympic Sports
Museum.
The concept of the exhibition was developed by the two institutions and reflects football as a phenomenon in which the diversity of the international football community finds a common ground.
Kevin Moore, director of the National Football Museum, said: “Football unites billions of people across the globe, of all ages, nationalities and cultures. Football is an important part of global culture, bringing the world together. People who don’t share a common spoken language can share the unspoken language of football. We all speak football. We are delighted to be working with the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum on this fantastic global exhibition, ‘We Speak Football’.”
