Linde Werdelin, in association with local distributors Ali Bin Ali, yesterday unveiled in Doha its new collection of sports watches with attachable diving and skiing instruments.
The company founders, Jorn Werdelin and Morten Linde, told Gulf Times that they produce limited series of Swiss timepieces like the Oktopus II Moon (59 pieces) and Spidolite II Tech (75 pieces).
State-of-the-art and exclusive electronic gadgets like the Reef and the Rock can be attached to these watches. Werdelin stressed that no other watchmaker combines the two. “Our interpretation is that we wanted to have the best possible of the mechanical part and the best possible of the digital part and then combine them when you need it,” he said. It took them about five years to develop the instruments intended to constantly guide users.
Only about 500 pieces will be made this year by Linde Werdelin, unlike some other major manufacturers that produce watches in bigger quantities. It does not conduct any market research or target a specific group, believing that these are just a waste of time.
Based on online feedback, the firm has noted that there is a lot of interest in the Middle East. “It’s important for us to reach every potential customer,” said Werdelin.
