The camp lasted for 12 days and Sheikh Khalid and Naimi undertook the visit to review the training activities, besides encouraging the riders to do well in their respective events. Qatar’s Ahmed al-Bourdainy, under the guidance of coach Branko Filip, will contest in the UCE Road World Championships, which has already started in Florence, Italy and will conclude on September 29. About 70 cyclists are taking part in the world championship.
During the world championship, the General Assembly of the International Cycling Union (UCI) will also be held to elect the new president. Naimi will represent Asia in the meeting. On the sidelines of the UCI General Assembly, several coordination meetings regarding the organisation and preparations for the World Road Cycling Championships 2016 in Qatar are also expected to be held. The Qatari delegation participating in the meetings consists of QCF president Sheikh Khalid bin Ali al-Thani, the 2016 world championship organising committee chairman, Majid Ahmed al-Naimi, tournament director, Nasser Khamis al-Kaabi, Ahmed Abdullah al-Hemaidi, Amani al-Dosari, Technical Secretary Andrej Filip, a representative from the Ministry of Works, Abdullah Yafei (adviser to roads department), Ali Jarallah Albraidy (Ministry of Interior) and Yousuf Mohamed Obaidly, Al Jazeera Channel ( Director General of channel-belN SPORT - France).
