Jaidah Automotive, a subsidiary of the leading Qatari business conglomerate Jaidah Group and the exclusive importer and distributor of Chevrolet in Qatar, has launched the 2014 Impala in Doha.
The all-new full-size flagship sedan from Chevrolet was unveiled at an event presided over by Mark Jenkins, general manager, Jaidah Automotive, Bader El-Houssami, regional manager, General Motors, and other GM representatives.
Embellished with new levels of comfort, safety and technology, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala is available from Jaidah Automotive showroom in central Doha.
The sedan is powered by a 3.6L V6 aluminium engine with variable valve timing with fuel-saving direct injection and lightweight components. Matched to a six-speed automatic transmission, it is rated at 305 horsepower and 356 Nm of torque, with fuel economy of 12.4 L/100km for city driving and 8.1 L/100km on the highway.
The industry-leading safety features include 10 standard air bags, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, rear camera and rear-park assist.
The 2014 Impala has spacious front and rear legroom as well as generous storage. Premium interior materials and details such as high-quality fabric, suede microfiber and perforated leather appointments, complement the quiet environment and give the Impala a substantive look and feel.
The instrument cluster has multidimensional gauges and configurable colour on a 4.2-inch screen. A prominent ‘centre stack’ is integrated in the instrument panel and houses the climate controls and Chevrolet MyLink, which includes navigation and Bluetooth audio streaming among many other features – and is controlled via a touch screen on an available eight-inch display.
A standard audio amplifier is a feature not typical for the segment and a Bose surround-sound audio system is available – the first in a Chevrolet car. For those equipped with available embedded navigation, drivers only need to enter destinations in a single step.
Some of the other onboard features that help provide a quiet driving experience are the vehicle’s strong body structure, acoustically laminated windshield and front-door glass, liquid-applied sound deadener, sound-absorbing carpet and isolated engine cradle.
The 2014 Chevrolet Impala’s thin A-pillars and low instrument panel enhance outward visibility, and the car’s six-window ‘greenhouse’ surround occupants with natural light. The seats are bolstered for great support and seat cushions deliver a firm, premium feel.
The Impala is available with a range of 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels. There are low-profile projector-beam headlamps and LED daytime running lamps on LTZ. The trunk has 532 litres of cargo space.
Additional available features include remote start, passive entry/exit, keyless starting, power tilting/telescoping steering column with memory, dual-zone climate control and heated and ventilated front seats.
Jenkins described the 2014 Chevrolet Impala as a classic car that represents the 10th generation of one of the industry’s most enduring and popular nameplates.
“A segment that we have historically dominated, the Impala completes the transformation of the brand’s passenger car line-up as we at GM strive to design, build and sell the world’s best vehicles,” El-Houssami added.
The Chevrolet Impala has been America’s best-selling full-size sedan since 2004, with total sales of more than 169,000 in 2012.
Jenkins and El-Houssami applaud after unveiling the new 2014 Chevrolet Impala.
