Grand Hyatt Doha has appointed Markus Zuck (pictured) as chef du cuisine at its award-winning restaurant, The Grill, and introduced a new menu.
The past 15 years have seen him rise steadily through the culinary ranks, participating in the success of strong international Gault Millau and Michelin-starred restaurants in Germany before joining Hyatt. “I believe Hyatt represents one of the ultimate benchmarks of excellence in hospitality,” he said.
Zuck began cooking in his grandfather’s kitchen before deciding he was destined for a career as a professional chef.  He took his first steps in that direction in 1998 when he went to work as commis at Da Gianni, the famous two Michelin-starred restaurant in Germany.
“My career started when I was 15 years old when I joined a private hospitality school and chose to major in the culinary arts,” he recalled.
“The passion I saw in my grandfather’s eyes every time he prepared a meal for the family inspired me to choose to become a chef.”
The Grill’s new menu features seafood and poultry, desserts and accommodates vegetarians and light eaters and also honours a unique fine dining brasserie cuisine with an Asian touch.
Led by executive chef Jean-Christophe Fieschi, the restaurant’s cuisine of bold flavours are built around the wood-fire grill, open kitchens, and the freshest seafood and meats, coupled with the experience of chef Zuck.
