Janet Lim-Napoles, the businesswoman at the centre of the P10bn pork barrel scam suffered an anxiety attack during her first night of stay at her detention cell in Fort Santo Domingo, Santa Rosa, Laguna province, a police official said yesterday.
PNP Public Information chief Senior Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac said the prime suspect in the scam complained at around 3am yesterday of an anxiety attack due to her claustrophobic disorder.
“She was immediately attended by a nurse on duty and her blood pressure was recorded at 180/150 and her sugar level dropped, but her condition was restored back to normal an hour later,” Sindac said.
The PNP official said Napoles then had her breakfast at around 6am, which consisted of ham, egg cooked sunny-side up and rice before meeting her visitors that included three of her children and two lawyers.
Napoles’ visitors were identified by the police official as James Napoles, Christian Napoles and Christine Napoles and her lawyers, Bettina Zamora and Deanna Singian.
Napoles then had lunch which was specially made considering her diabetic condition.
Sindac said elements of PNP-Special Action Force (SAF) are undergoing a session by the Bureau of Jail Management Penology (BJMP) for security and detainee handling.
The businesswoman was quietly moved by elements of the PNP-SAF from the Makati City Jail to her new and renovated detention house inside a police training facility at dawn Sunday.
Facing a reward of P10mn for her arrest, Napoles surrendered on Wednesday evening to President Benigno Aquino, who earlier offered the reward for her arrest.
