The football line-up available on Al Jazeera Sport includes the Barclays Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and top international soccer.
Al Jazeera Sport has reported its most successful start ever to the European football season as the Barclays Premier League and La Liga kicked off over the weekend, according to a statement issued by the global sports broadcaster.
All 380 matches of the 2013-2014 Barclays Premier League are available exclusively on Al Jazeera Sport’s TV and digital channels across the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) following the acquisition of exclusive media rights to the league in the region for three years. The football line-up available on Al Jazeera Sport also includes La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and top international soccer.
Also new this season on Al Jazeera Sport is the addition of four HD channels, taking the total to six, besides the 14 regular sports channels in the full sports package. Existing subscribers can upgrade their current subscription to enjoy the benefits.
There has been an overwhelming response from across the Mena region with Al Jazeera Sport subscribers registering at more than twice the rate of any previous season during the opening weekend, the statement says.
Commenting on the opening weekend, Al Jazeera Sport chairman Nasser al-Khelaifi said: “We are committed to creating the very best line-up of football for fans in the region. The Premier League is new for us this season, but it is the strength of our total football line-up that our customers find compelling.”
Al Jazeera Sport is providing complete coverage of the Barclays Premier League through dedicated studios for both Arabic and English and a full range of preview, reviews and highlights programmes. Breaking news and stories from the league will feature on Al Jazeera Sport News.
Al Jazeera Sport has lined up some of the most experienced and well-loved sports presenters in the industry to front their productions in the region - Ayman Jada and Mohamed Saadon al-Kuwari for Arabic coverage and Richard Keys and Andy Gray for English. The opening weekend also had expert guests such as Mido, Kevin Keegan, David Platt and Ruud Gullit.
