Hundreds of people attend the funeral of Rodrigo Melinao, a ethnic Mapuche in Temuco, Chile. Meliano, is linked to the so called ‘Mapuche conflict’ and was found shot dead on 6 August. The Mapuche comprise about 600.000 people and are the main indigenous group in Chile. Mapuche tribes in the Araucanía region are in conflict with farm and forest enterprises for the ownership of the land they consider ancestral.
