Members of the Malaysian community at the community Iftar organised by the RAF and Ministry of Interior for the ‘Iftar and Brotherhood with Communities Project.’
The Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has held a number of ‘Iftar meets’ for members of the Malaysian, Indonesian, Somali and Djibouti communities in conjunction with the Ministry of Interior, as part of the ‘Iftar and Brotherhood with Communities’ programme.
The Iftar for the Malaysian community saw some 200 people attending the Al Arabi Sports Club where the Malaysian Ambassador, Ahmed Jazri Mohamed, and other officials gathered for the special event. A religious lecture was delivered by Mohamed Abdullah bin Abdul Wahhab Ashari.
The following evening, some 800 members of the Somali and Djibouti communities attended their Iftar meeting at the same location.  Community leaders and RAF officials were present for the religious lecture which was delivered by Somali scholar, Mahad Deeriyah Ahmed.
On the same day, the RAF organised the Iftar meeting for some 1,000 members of the Indonesian community at Tariq bin Ziyad school.  Indonesian ambassador, Dedy Saiful Islam and other officials were in attendance, while the religious scholar, Eindang Handra delivered the religious lectures.
All of the Iftar meetings featured a presentation on traffic and security awareness, as well as a number of other activities and competitions to celebrate the occasions.
The ‘Iftar and Brotherhood with Communities Project’ has been organised to target the expatriate community throughout the country. A spokesperson explained: “The main objectives of this programme are showcasing the brotherhood of the people of Qatar with expatriate communities in Qatar and strengthening cohesion, compassion, rapprochement and communication among the members of the community themselves.”
This weekend, the programme will conclude with an Iftar meeting for some 2,500 members of the Indian community.
