A team from the Anti-Doping Lab Qatar (ADLQ) is currently gaining valuable hands- on experience in London through its co-operation with the London Anti-Doping Laboratory.
ADLQ is represented at Bayt Qatar.
The ADLQ, the first of its kind in the Middle East and West Asia, has strong links with the London Anti-Doping Laboratory.
“ADLQ is proud to collaborate with London Anti-Doping Laboratory for the doping testing of athletes participating in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Dr Mohammed Alsayrafi, lab’s general manager.
“Taking part in this event is a good chance for our employees to get more experience,” he said.
The team includes among others, Dr Costas Georgakopoulos, director of the Doping Analysis Laboratory. Dr Costas has already spent five weeks in London sharing his expertise and knowledge of doping testing in Olympic Games.
The London Anti-Doping Lab is hosting four young Qatari scientists from ADLQ who are participating in the operations of the lab during the games and getting a life-time opportunity of on-the-job training.
The young Qatari scientists include Khadija Ali Saad, Wadha Abushareeda, Muneera al-Mansoori and Khitam al-Saadi. They are accompanied by ADLQ senior laboratory scientists Dr Ariadni Vonapart, Suheil Kreim and Sven Voss.
