More than 1,200 people were left homeless yesterday after a fire swept through a shantytown in the Philippine capital.
An elementary school was also damaged in the fire in Pasay City in metropolitan Manila. But no one was hurt, according to comments to the media by fire marshal Douglas Guiyab.
At least 250 homes were consumed in the fire, forcing an estimated 1,250 people to flee with what they could carry.
