The Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Qatar Meteorological Department of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA).
The agreement ensures exclusive ownership of intellectual property rights (IPR) for the engineering and design concept of an outdoor air-conditioning system for use in football stadiums and other open spaces. Under the agreement, the QCAA will provide the AZF with two decades worth of meteorological studies on Qatar.
The MoU was signed yesterday by Abdulaziz al-Mahmoud, director general of Aspire Logistics, a subsidiary of AZF; and Ahmed Abdullah, head of the Qatar Meteorological
Department.
“Signing this memorandum further supports AZF’s aim to foster research initiatives that strengthen the Foundation’s standing on the global platform as a source of technological innovation in sports. The international recognition of our existing IPR ownership for several internally developed innovations is additional proof of this,” said al-Mahmoud.
In 2009 the AZF became the exclusive owner of IPR, relating to an engineering and design concept of an outdoor air-conditioning system for use in football stadiums and other open spaces. In 2011, AZF was awarded the IPR Protection Centre in Qatar, in recognition of its IPR ownership of the unique outdoor system.
