President of Jala Islamic University in Thailand Dr Ismail Lutfi Javakia has lauded the support provided by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani for the construction of a teaching hospital, named after the founder of Qatar Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani, in Salam Fatani city in the Thai state of Jala.

Praising the effort exerted by Qatar in service of Islam and Muslims worldwide, Sheikh Lutfir told reporters that the hospital project is a welfare gesture by Qatar.
He added that the hospital, which will serve the people of south Thailand and others, will be the first Islamic hospital in the country and will fulfil the needs of Muslims in the region.
He said the hospital will have the services of over 500 Muslim doctors and nurses working with the Red Crescent Society, which will run the hospital under the supervision of Jala Islamic University.
Sheikh Lutfi explained that 10% of the hospital’s project has been completed adding that all the hospital’s facilities will be ready within two years.
Meanwhile, Khalid bin Shaheen al-Ghanim, director of Islamic Affairs at the Ministry Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, handed over the President of Jala University a cheque for $2mn, which is the second installment of the $7mn hospital project.
