Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) yesterday said it plans to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the prospects of exploring business and professional opportunities with the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) in the southern Indian state.
A delegation, led by Kerala legislator Joseph Vazhakkan, visited Kahramaa and held discussions with Ali al Najjar, director, network affairs, Kahramaa, on the possibilities of using KSEB’s professional expertise and experience in handling different aspects of the power sector.
The Kahramaa official said the issue has already been brought to the notice of the corporation’s president and other departments.
On his part the Kerala legislator said he would bring the issue to the notice of Kerala chief minister and electricity minister at the earliest.
Vazhakkan also extended an invitation to Kahramaa official to participate in the “Emerging Kerala 2012” conclave to be held in Kochi in the second week of September to which the Qatari official responded positively. A formal invitation to attend the conclave would be given to the Kahramaa officials by Kerala Chief Minister later this week, it is learnt.
Besides Vazhakkan, the delegation consisted of Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) vice-president K Girish Kumar, entrepreneur Manzoor Moideen and Mohamed Shahna.
