Aquino: seeking support
Manila Times/Manila
President Benigno S Aquino on Saturday exhorted the Ateneo de Manila University community to get involved in the country’s transformation and progress.
Aquino, who was the guest at Ateneo’s Ignatian Festival, said every Atenean is honed not only academically but also on how to face real-life challenges.
It is the obligation of every Atenean to help find solutions for society’s problems and correct the flaws of the system, he said.
“Don’t confine the Atenean spirit within the buildings and corridors of this school. Wherever you study, teach or work, whatever agency you serve, you must be a man for others,” the president said.
He thanked his teachers in Ateneo for honing him in the field of economics and other areas and providing him spiritual advice during trying times. The Ignatian Festival 2013 aims to gather Ateneo alumni, students, faculty and staff to commemorate the annual Feast of St Ignatius de Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits.
