Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SEIB Insurance and Reinsurance Company (SEIB) to mentor talented Qatari interns as part of the academy’s Kawader programme.
As a mentorship partner, the company will support QFBA’s training schedule with dedicated mentors providing hands-on guidance during scheduled internships at SEIB, which will be part of the candidates’ overall training.
The agreement has been signed by QFBA chief executive officer Dr Abdulaziz al-Horr and SEIB chief operating officer Elias Chedid.
“We are honoured by the enthusiasm we have received in response to the Kawader programme and are glad to welcome SEIB as our latest partner. Kawader is designed to motivate and empower talented students by providing them with world-class education and training, preparing them for careers in the financial sector. Through partners such as SEIB, they will receive valuable practical training and learn from experienced practitioners, which will prepare them for highly challenging future roles in Qatar’s diversified financial services sector,” said Dr al-Horr.
“The agreement with QFBA reiterates our belief in social responsibility, in working with the youth of Qatar and supporting them. As a responsible Qatari company, we offer our unwavering commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030 in supporting the development of human capital and resources. We are, therefore, delighted to be teaming up to reach this far-ranging agreement with an organisation as prestigious as QFBA,” said Chedid.
SEIB will accept internship candidates recommended by QFBA and provide training in insurance, reinsurance and related activities. To further enhance the knowledge already gained by the interns during their time in a university, SEIB and QFBA will also seek to tailor the internship experience to amplify their existing knowledge while working to make sure that each intern has a well-co-ordinated dialogue with the mentor and is able to complete tasks and assignments efficiently.
The Kawader programme targets third-year Qatari university students as well as fresh graduates. To persuade the most talented young Qataris to choose a career in the financial sector, QFBA - which operates under the auspices of Qatar Financial Centre Authority -recently also signed an MoU with four top education providers in Qatar as part of the Kawader initiative. These include Qatar University, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar, Stenden University and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.
QFBA will separately work with the selected candidates to deliver instructor-led modules as part of the overall Kawader programme. These sessions are conducted at the QFBA learning facilities, steered by a pool of professionally trained instructors and industry practitioners.
