Qatar Charity (QC) has inaugurated its popular Ramadan programme Al-Baraha at Aspire Zone’s women’s hall.
The programme, which will run every night until the end of Ramadan, features activities for families, offering them constructive entertainment.
“Al-Baraha offers people an excellent family entertainment atmosphere. It incorporates fun and didactic activities for children while parents could enjoy religious lectures and chants. This year we are offering a distinguished service providing families with the required privacy,” said Yusuf bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, chief executive officer, QC, while inaugurating the
programme on Sunday.
The inauguration was attended by local and distinguished GCC personalities, scholars and other QC officials. A large number of families have also turned up at the event.
However, the services of Al-Baraha this year are not free of charge. Families would have to book a place by paying a fee which covers the activities and a meal for all family members.
According to al-Kuwari, the fee is aimed at
improving the service.
Ibrahim al-Muhannadi, executive director of local development at QC, said that parents could leave their children in the care of specialised supervisors at the kids’ area, where they would play, learn and spend time in a productive way.
He said that the programme is designed to help families spend a good time and instruct them on religious and heritage values that would enrich their lives. “Every night there will be competitions and quizzes, where winners would instantly be awarded different types of electronics, electric appliances and cash prizes, he added.
Al-Kuwari expressed his appreciation for the role of QC partners in the activities, including The Torch Hotel, Barwa Bank, Aspire Zone and Chevron Philips.
At the launch, two prominent Saudi and Libyan scholars gave sermons on the importance of brotherhood in faith and how the faithful should help each other, whether materially or ethically to maintain a better life. Religious chants were presented too alongside a number of brief religious and historical lectures and contests.
In the kids’ areas, children enjoyed various simple scientific experiments performed live with explanations, colouring and drawing workshops, different scientific activities and a 3D space dome.
Al-Baraha is being conducted by QC for the third consecutive year, and this year it has spread outside Doha to Al Khor and Al Shahaniyah. It is excepted to benefit 24,000 persons at an estimated cost of QR950,000.
