HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani arriving for the flag-raising ceremony at the Olympic Village in London four days before the start of the 2012 Olympic Games

The Qatari flag was hoisted at London’s Olympic Village yesterday.
HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, the secretary general of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), attended the flag-hoisting ceremony along with Khalid Rashid al-Mansouri, Qatar’s ambassador to the UK, and Khalil Ibrahim al-Jabir, QOC’s sports affairs director and manager of the administrative team in London.
Qatari delegation members, including administrative executives and sportsmen taking part in the tournament, were also present.
 Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman exchanged trophies and mementos with the mayor of the Olympic Village on the occasion.
 The mayor expressed his happiness at the positive participation of the Qatari delegation at London Olympics 2012.

HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman at the Olympic Games’ Giving is Winning campaign. The campaign aims to promote sports activities in refugee camps. At every edition of the Olympic Summer Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) partners with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the local organising committee, in this case London 2012, to collect sports clothing and distribute it to thousands of people who have been displaced by violence, famine and other catastrophes
He  hoped that the Qatari delegation would achieve good results. Al-Jabir said the Qatari team’s  preparations were making steady progress.
A group Iftar for the GGC teams taking part in the Olympics was hosted by the Qatari team  after the ceremony was over.
