Shaqadan and al-Baker announcing the Ramadan activities yesterday

Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall and Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) yesterday announced a series of social initiatives for the holy month of Ramadan.
“The programme will help people in need,” Hyatt Plaza assistant marketing manager (events and promotions), Fuad Shaqadan said.
For the third year in a row, Hyatt Plaza plans to host Fast-a-thon 2012, a charity event that facilitates people to help the underprivileged people of Niger.
The event gives non-Muslims an opportunity to fast one day of Ramadan as Muslims do and those who complete the fast successfully will be rewarded by QR200 donated on their behalf by QRC. The event will take place next Saturday.
Those who wish to participate can register through Hyatt Plaza website, fax, mail or in person at the customer service counter of Hyatt Plaza.
“In 2011, we had a participation of people from 19 different countries and from various religions, so we believe Fast-a-thon, in every sense, promote universal brotherhood and creates a platform for people from various cultures to come together and join hands for a noble cause.” said Shaqadan.
Details about the event will be briefed to the participants during the orientation which will be held in the Fashion Avenue (near gate 2) tomorrow at 4pm and an Iftar party will be organised for all participants in Hyatt Plaza food court area on Saturday at 6pm.
“The situation in Niger is extremely disheartening and it is the duty of international community to help them during their worst days. We are joining hands with Hyatt Plaza to help the people of Niger,” said Adel Ali al-Baker, director of QRC general secretary’s office.
Hyatt Plaza and QRC will also launch “Shop to donate” campaign during Ramadan. Participating outlets in the shopping mall have pledged to donate a portion of their earnings during the campaign period towards charity works of QRC.
“Shop to donate provides opportunity to our customers and all our partner outlets to do their duty towards the society,” said Shaqadan.
He said that the outlets at Hyatt Plaza  that will participate include: Highland, Homes r’ Us, Bossini, G 2000, Mr. Price, Daiso, Carters, Momento, Mosafer, Samsonite, Triumph, Naf Naf, Bijoux Terner, Karisma, Bench, Naturalizer, The Athletes Foot, Inglot, Aldo, Nine West, Charles & Keith, Kontar, Qatar Optics, Dandara, Osh Kosh, Fuji Films, Tea Gschwender, Zaman Al Cham, Viven France, Crono, Technical Care Center, Cute Cut Salon, Nandos, Johnny Rockets, Burger King, Al Tazaj, Pizza Hut, Shamiana, Parfait, Dunkin Donut, Cold Stone, Fleurs Coupees, Baskin Robins, IBC Silver, Watch Fair, Swiss Arabian and Al Sulaiman Jewellers.
The shopping mall also plans to hold a series of events including Islamic lectures, Nasheeds, first aid trainings and amazing children’s activities.
Al-Baker pointed out that the charity organisation together with Hyatt Plaza plans to conduct a wide variety of activities and competitions for children, spread over 12 days starting from July 25.
“With the support of various government organisations, including Civil Defence and Hamad Hospital, we have planned a lot of events for 10 days,” he said.
