Qatar Telecom yesterday confirmed it got the required legal and regulatory approvals to change the company’s legal name to Ooredoo QSC. The change was previously approved by shareholders at the company’s extraordinary general assembly meeting held on March 31.

“At this time the company’s ticker symbols - QTEL.QA remain unchanged with announcements to be made in due course,” Ooredoo said. The company’s new brand identity and logo was first unveiled on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona early this year. Besides Qatar, Ooredoo has a presence in markets such as Kuwait, Oman, Algeria, Tunisia, Iraq, Palestine, the Maldives and Indonesia.
