The commercial section of the Pakistan embassy will soon be functional to facilitate Pakistanis in conducting business in Qatar, Ambassador Syed Hassan Raza has said.
He was speaking at a meeting of the Pakistani community held at the Pakistan Education Centre on Friday.
More than 800 people attended the meeting. Among them were Pakistani professionals working in health facilities, service industries and executives at major Qatari companies.
The meeting was also attended by a large number of workers employed in different sectors in Qatar.
Other officers of the embassy were also present.
Embassy officials concerned with the National Database & Registration Authority (Nadra) and Machine Readable Passport sections explained the procedure of issuance for National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis and passports.
The community members expressed satisfaction over the interaction of ambassador and the officers with the community.
The ambassador thanked the community members for attending the meeting in large numbers.
He also expressed his gratitude to HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and the government of Qatar for looking after the Pakistanis in Qatar. The ambassador also praised the Pakistani community for their services rendered for Qatar and the respect they have gained through their hard work.
Raza explained the various measures taken to improve the quality of education at the Pakistan Education Centre in Doha and the introduction of Cambridge stream in the school from this year.
He also announced that the PEC would soon start vocational and skill development courses to increase the prospects of employment in Qatar.
The ambassador referred to the recently-held free and fair elections in Pakistan and said the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was fully conscious of the challenges faced by the country and was taking necessary measures to provide basic amenities and facilities to the people.
He said the Pakistani people are against extremism and terrorism and they wish to settle all issues through democratic means based on the principles of tolerance and the teachings of Islam.
Raza noted that the government was making all efforts to address the energy crisis in Pakistan and to provide job opportunities to the youth.
He said the community meetings will be a regular feature every month.
