UFBQ members at Qatar Bowling Centre recently

The 43rd season of the United Filipino Bowlers Qatar (UFBQ)’s bowling league got off to a start at Qatar Bowling Centre (QBC) recently.
In the coming days, the UFBQ will hold bowling clinic sessions for all new and existing members who are interested to improve their skills in 10-pin bowling.
The new league now follows the format of a five-man team (with a maximum of eight players per team, including reserve players) and with balance handicap system for Class A, B, C and Ladies Division.
A total of 22 teams have submitted their entries for participation this year.
The league is made up of 16 weeks of one-round robin matches. The top six teams will receive cash prizes and trophies.
Consolation prizes will be also awarded up to the last finishers.
In 2009, under the leadership of Oliver Fabros and his team, the UFBQ recorded the largest membership growth with more than 260 members joining the body.
Apart from promoting bowling and camaraderie among Overseas Filipino Workers in Qatar, the UFBQ continues to be one of the top Filipino bowling clubs with significant contributions to the Qatar Bowling Centre.
It has received certificates of recognition from the management of QBC.
The UFBQ is also one of most active community organisations, usually extending assistance to fellow compatriots in distress and also providing help to the victims of calamities in the Philippines for humanitarian cause.
For such endeavours, it was awarded Commendation of Appreciation by ABS-CBN Bantay Bata and Sagip Kapamilya, the Philippine national forums.
The UFBQ is accredited by the embassy of the Philippines.
