Ooredoo has passed a major milestone with more than 310,000 people now using its Shahry postpaid service.
The growth in customers for Shahry – along with the rise in the number of people using postpaid services from Ooredoo - underlines the ongoing growth of Qatar’s communications sector as well as the company’s position in the market. Qatar now has one of the fastest-growing postpaid sectors in the region, driven in part by innovations introduced by Ooredoo.
In recent months, Ooredoo has launched a series of initiatives to enhance network coverage and offer more choice and value to Shahry customers.
The company has seen strong uptake in the number of customers opting for Shahry by switching their mobile connection to Ooredoo, signing up for Shahry Packs and choosing Ooredoo
Passport services.
Ooredoo has seen a spike in the number of customers signing up for Shahry Packs, which bundle local and international minutes, SMS, MMS and mobile Internet data. Shahry Packs, which start at QR55 a month, offer customers a wide variety of choice and flexibility to keep in touch with friends and family in Qatar and abroad.
Ooredoo is expecting more customers to sign up for Shahry plans in the coming months.
Customers can sign up for a Shahry plan at any Ooredoo Shop or the Ooredoo eShop at www.ooredoo.qa/eshop. They need a valid Qatar ID or residence permit and there is a one-time
connection fee of QR50.
Many customers have signed up for the Shahry Unlimited Mobile Broadband Plan in order to access the ultrafast 4G long-term-evolution mobile broadband network, which was launched in April.
Customers can access 4G on a 4G-enabled My-Fi device or a USB modem, then subscribe to the Shahry Unlimited Mobile Broadband Plan and unlock the 4G service with the 4G Key, which costs an additional QR60 per month.
