A delegation from some 20 German companies are presently in Qatar to explore investment opportunities and showcase their products targeting Qatar’s healthcare sector.

“The Germans are interested in delivering their products here and are also willing to co-operate and develop new activities for Qatar’s healthcare sector,” German-based gepa2 GmbH managing director Christian Lindenau, who is heading the delegation, told Gulf Times yesterday.

gepa2 GmbH has been authorised as a mandatory on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in the framework of sales promotion projects.

The projects are meant to  initiate and intensify commercial contacts between medium-sized companies in Germany and partner countries worldwide, by giving practical information and helping to find business partners and select projects.

Lindenau explained that the delegation is also here to get information about Qatari government’s activities in the healthcare sector, as well as on the ongoing preparation for the World Cup 2022.

“I have been active with the Qatari business sector since 1998, when I came with my first business delegation, and the whole country has changed completely from what it used to be then. We are so glad that the Qatari businessmen are very open-minded towards us and we hope to develop this co-operation further in the months and years to come,” he stated.

According to him, the delegation will hold a series of meetings with senior Qatari officials in various institutions such as the Ministry of Interior — regarding the setting up of the Police Clinic, Qatar Chamber of Commerce, Qatar Foundation, Supreme Council of Health, Al Ahli Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation’s Dental Department as well as some polyclinics in the city.

Speaking on behalf of Bilfinger Healthcare and Services — a subsidiary of Bilfinger Engineering and Services — its quality management, safety, health and environment head Jenny Grundlich mentioned that the company has been a leading specialised healthcare services outfit in German market for the past 40 years.

Bilfinger Engineering and Services already has a presence in Qatar’s construction and services sector.

“Bilfinger Healthcare and Services specialises in patients’ diet and hospital facility hygiene, which is very vital in preventing germs transmission — it’s a very special expertise that we are known for in Germany,” she maintained.

According to her, the focus of the company’s work is in hygiene and infection control, with a specialised hygiene management system being strictly regulated by the German government.

“We are also always involved in building new hospitals in order to fully optimise our services for the facilities to ensure proper hygiene and that is what we are here to seek partners for and see how we can create a presence in Qatar,” she said.

Bilfinger’s Product management and Cleaning Healthcare head Ulf Beyer had earlier in February come to Qatar, alongside other officials from German companies on a trip also facilitated by gepas2, when he was able to make initial contact with the Ministry of Interior officials regarding the new Police Clinic building.

The company is looking for further ways of partnering with more local hospitals in Qatar through the Supreme Council of Health as well as the private sector, he said.

Another company represented in the delegation is Dentamatics, which has come to introduce its high-end solutions in the German dental sector to Qatar.

“Our pioneering solutions catering to the demands of service providers and patients are constant quality management, systematic usage of digital technology to provide diagnoses, helping in therapy and the production process,” Dentamatics chief executive officer and master dental technician Henry Goepel said.

He mentioned that the company provides an array of dental services including prosthetic to computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM), as well as dental training services.
