Sheji Valiyakath presents Stephen Brennan with a bouquet in the presence of ICAI officials.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Doha Chapter, recently organised a workshop on cyber security.
The event, sponsored by CSC Technology, was attended by around 100 members and guests. Stephen Brennan, cyber security specialist, spoke on the subject.
Cyber security is an important business continuity planning issue, said Brennan. “As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, business continuity professionals must pay more attention to the security of their organisation’s connections,” he added.
Brennan raised the issue of implementation of security policies and procedures to protect companies from hackers, who could bring such organisations to their knees with news of stolen funds, bad publicity and embarrassing revelations.
He also reminded the audience about the importance of choosing the best security partner to implement cyber security measures within an organisation.
In his opening address, ICAI Doha Chapter chairman Sheji Valiyakath said: “Increased connectivity brings increased risk of crimes, which makes cyber security one of the most important security priorities.”
He insisted that emerging cyber threats require engagement from from the government, law-enforcement agencies, private sector and the public  to create a safer cyber environment.
Treasurer George Isaac was the master of ceremonies. Executive committee member Gaurav Kakkar delivered the welcome speech while vice-chairman Hatim Hussain delivered the vote of thanks to conclude the evening.
