Qatar Petroleum’s Offshore Operations and the QP Divers Club, a branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club, jointly carried out an environmental seabed clean-up campaign on the eastern side of Halul Island recently.
The campaign was in line with QP’s strategy of protecting the environment in all areas of its operations. The objective of the voluntary project was to ensure that the coral reefs and marine life around Halul are protected from external foreign objects and that the area’s natural marine life is preserved. “The underwater environmental campaign successfully resulted in the removal from the seabed of several large tyres and other objects, which were degrading the marine environment,” QP said.
