The Supreme Council of Health in collaboration with the Primary Health Care Corporation, HMC and the National Centre for Cancer Care Research, will tomorrow launch a bladder and prostate cancer awareness campaign.
The awareness campaign, which is expected to run for six weeks, is based on the recommendation of the National Cancer Strategy launched in 2011.
The aim of the campaign is to raise public awareness of signs and symptoms associated with prostate and bladder cancer.
It will also encourage members of the public to visit a primary health care doctor if any of the following symptoms are seen:
l For bladder cancer the key symptom to be aware of is ‘blood in urine’
l For prostate cancer - ‘changes to urinary habits for reasons unexplained including passing urine often, having trouble passing urine and waking often to pass urine in the middle of the night.
The campaign will include distribution of leaflets, posters, internal magazines, radio and television interviews, Karwa and street furniture advertising.
