British Ambassador Michael O’Neill receives HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari

HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari,  joined British Ambassador Michael O’Neill and 700 guests of the British embassy, in celebrating the Diamond Jubilee and Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II yesterday evening.
In his speech at the reception, O’Neill said it was his great pleasure to host this year’s Queen’s Birthday Party in celebration of Her Majesty’s 60 years on the throne. He thanked particularly HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari  for gracing the occasion.

He also thanked Qatar Shell, Atkins, Alfardan Premier Motors, Clyde & Co and HSBC for their support as well the hosts, the Four Seasons. “I would also like to thank Qatar Airways and Harrods for their generosity in providing guests with a gift of Harrods tea.”
The envoy said he was delighted to arrive in Doha at a time when the UK-Qatar relationship was going from strength to strength in all areas.
“After the great success of the State Visit 18 months ago, we are delighted that Their Highnesses the Emir and Sheikha Moza were able to join the Queen and other heads of state for lunch at Windsor Castle to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
“We continue to expand our co-operation across the board: in education and culture, defence and security, trade and investment, climate change and energy, and foreign policy. We see Qatar as one of our closest allies and together, we have achieved a great deal. We will work hard to ensure that success continues. As we are about to host London 2012 and as we look forward to Qatar hosting the World Cup in 2022, let us work together through a decade of partnership.”
He also extended his thanks to all from the British and Qatari communities as well as his diplomatic colleagues for the welcome, support and hospitality they have shown him.
