The day, widely celebrated around the world, commemorates the memory of Florence Nightingale, a nurse and founder of modern nursing.
The Mesaimeer Health Centre organised a ceremony to show appreciation of nurses for the great work they do every day for the community and their irreplaceable support to their patients
Mesaimeer Staff nurse Hajer Mohamed said: “This celebration is confirmation of the amazing work that our nurses do and how they express their pride in their profession. Nurses not only help their patient to overcome their illness, but also work closely with their families in finding the best way to deal with the illness under the process of treatment.”
Al Gharrafa Health Centre Education nurse Ilham Elkadi explained that nurses also advocate for health promotion; educate patients and the public on the prevention of illness; and provide care and assistance to their patients.
“We do more than care for individuals and it is that we participate in the advancement of the public health condition,” she said.
Other PHCC Health Centres such as Umm Ghwalina, Airport, Al Kaaban and Medinat Khalifa thanked their nursing teams for the work they have done during the past years and the significant role they play in the improvement of healthcare system in Qatar through Primary Health Care Corporation.
