The Supreme Court (SC) magistrates will go hi-tech after the en banc approved the upgrading and modernising of the Court’s technological equipments.
In a one page resolution of the High Court, signed and promulgated by Attorney Enriqueta Vidal, Clerk of Court of the SC en banc, it has resolved to set the upper limit on procurement of computers for the Chief Justice and the 14 Associate Justices. The SC made the ruling on the basis of the request made by Associate Justice Marvic Mario Victor Leonen. The request of Leonen would benefit her colleague and ally Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Aranal-Sereno and the other magistrates of the high court. Leonen made the request in order for the justices to be more efficient in their work and research.
“Whereas in the interest of upgrading and modernising the Court’s technical equipment to improve work efficiency and mobile connectivity, the court resolved to set the upper limit or ceiling for the procurement of computers for the Chief Justice and the Associate Justices of the Supreme Court,” it avers. In the approved upper limits, the SC ruled that “for high-powered desktop computers with large capacities it should be P110,000; for laptop computers or a laptop computer and a tablet for mobile connectivity—P75,000.”
