Qatargas has announced support to Qatar Golf Association (QGA) by sponsoring the QGA Junior Golf programme.
During a brief ceremony held at Qatargas’ office in Doha, Ghanim al-Kuwari, chief operating officer (administration), handed over a cheque to Fahad Nasser al-Naimi, general secretary, Qatar Golf
Association.
Al-Kuwari said: “We are very pleased to continue to partner with the Qatar Golf Association to support the Junior Golf Programme. We believe our support will help to popularise golf in Qatar, especially among the younger generation. Promoting and supporting sporting activities is an important element of our corporate social responsibility programme, supporting the human development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.”
Al-Naimi said: “We are thankful to Qatargas for its ongoing support to the Qatar Golf Association. This is the third season in a row that Qatargas has sponsored the Junior Golf Programme. Qatargas’ support will definitely help our objective at the Qatar Golf Association to see a whole team of new young golfers trained and equipped for future golf in Qatar.”
As part of the programme, weekly golf events will be conducted allowing junior golfers a chance to play and providing them a healthy outlet for their
energies.
Al-Naimi said: “The objective of the programme is to improve the standard of golf among the juniors. The association in co-operation with Doha Golf Club organises weekly golf competitions throughout the year, except during summer. Junior players of the association as well as the club participate in these events. We present weekly prizes to encourage youngsters and at the end of the season, the association awards prizes to the winners. We thank Qatargas for supporting this programme.”
