Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and Hitmi Ali Khalifa al-Hitmi at the signing of the memorandum of understanding
The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and the Barwa Real Estate Group have established a strategic alliance to share business, knowledge and experience in order to achieve their organisational goals, it was announced yesterday.
QOC secretary-general Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and Barwa Real Estate Group Board of Directors chairman Hitmi Ali Khalifa al-Hitmi signed a memorandum of understanding to this effect at a function held at the QOC headquarters.
According to the MoU, which will be valid until 2020, the Barwa Real Estate Group will provide its expertise to the QOC on issues related to the commissioning and execution of its future projects.
Barwa Real Estate Group will also help QOC develop its business plans, conduct feasibility and environmental studies besides supervising its projects and help the sports body select contractors. Barwa could itself develop some of the IOC’s future projects, officials said.
“Barwa has developed several large projects and has tremendous knowledge and experience in this field and we at the QOC decided to have them on board because we have many projects coming up,” Sheikh Saoud said yesterday.
“The MoU aims to boost the co-operation between the QOC and Barwa Real Estate Group and this will help Qatar sport achieve its aims and objectives,” he added.
Al-Hitmi said he was delighted with the partnership agreement.
“The MoU is the beginning of a new phase of co-operation between the QOC and Barwa Real Estate Group,” he said.
Al-Hitmi added that the MoU was important in the light of his group’s support for the projects related to the FIFA World Cup in 2022 which Qatar will be staging.
“We are proud that our group has signed this agreement with the QOC, which plays an important role in the development of the Qatari community,” he added.
