The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the partial closure of a section of Al Kharaitiyat Street heading south - between Suhail bin Abdulla al-Attiya Street and North Kharaitiyat Street.
The closure will be effective from May 19 and continue for four months. Ashghal has said the closure is part of the first stage of a large-scale project to develop the Al Kharaitiyat Groundwater Lowering System.
Travellers heading south will be able to use the temporary alternative roads shown in the attached map.
The Al Kharaitiyat Groundwater Lowering System project is part of Ashghal’s Local Roads & Drainage Programme, which includes more than 200 projects to be delivered over the next five to seven years across Qatar.
Ashghal has also announced that a section of the service road coming from the Industrial Area to Ain Khaled will be closed from tomorrow until May 25 in view of work on Salwa Road intersections.
Salwa Road users coming from the Industrial Area and heading towards Ain Khaled district have to use alternative roads during this period. The diversion of traffic will ensure safety and smooth traffic flow to the Al Waab area.
Upon completion, the Salwa Road Expressway will allow motorists to travel on four lanes in each direction.
