The enormity of the region’s wedding accessories market is there for one to see for yet another year at the Doha Exhibitions Centre as the 6th International Wedding Exhibition and Fashion Show 2013 (IWed) got off to a good start yesterday, with a number of city residents, mainly the citizens, thronging the venue.
The four-day event concluding on Sunday features among other attractions, fashion shows, display of innovative wedding costumes, ornaments, and other beauty and healthcare products widely used during marriages in the region.
The exhibition, as in previous years, has many regional wedding materials professionals participating. Each of them has a pavilion where they have displayed their exclusive collections in large numbers. Besides those dealing in marriage dresses and other accessories, even hotels and other establishments where Arab marriages are held usually, are showcasing their exclusive services.
Apart from some of the prominent names in the region’s fashion business, apparels’ designers have also turned up. Some of the participants have on display their lavishly-made crafts and artworks.
“It is not only the innovative designs and fashions that are on display, the exhibition also features many traditional wears as well, both for men and women,” said an organiser, who called upon the residents to also familiarise with the professionals offering a host of wedding related services.
The expo will feature several fashion shows in the next three days. A bridal fashion show and hair and make-up show, hosting some of the most luxurious creations made by the region’s designers is also on cards.
One of the familiar names in the region’s music, Husam Taha of Star Academy, will entertain the visitors with his specially composed music for the event.
The exhibition will be open between 3 and 10pm.
Yesterday at the opening top Arab and Lebanese designer Walid Attallah, and board member of the Qatar Chamber Mohamed Ahmed al-Obaidly were among others present. The guests also visited the stalls at the venue.
At the inauguration the main organiser and CEO of Qatar Expo Hadi al-Ali expressed happiness at the growing response to the event from the residents belonging to many nationalities.
