A two- day workshop on ‘Customer Services in electricity & water sectors in GCC’ concluded yesterday. Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) was hailed for its leading role in e-services across the region.

The 6th edition of the workshop was hosted by Kahramaa under the aegis of the GCC Electricity & Water Conservation and Customer Services Committee here at Sharq hotel. 

With a total of 13 presentations, the participating delegates reviewed proposals from member states on the development of customer services’ strategies. Four audio-visual presentations were screened by Kahramaa officials.

Sheikha al-Mulla made a presentation on the use of social media to enhance customer service at Kahramaa. She explained how social media users receive answers to their queries in a convenient way.

Other Kahramaa presentations were on single window project by Nasser al-Khuzei, development of front desk customer care staff by Aisha al- Mutawaa and measurement of customer satisfaction by Moza al-Tamimi. Officials said that Kahramaa provides face-to-face customer care and also uses virtual and online solutions to improve customer service.

The delegates hailed the recent move of the corporation to stop issuing paper bills since April and introduction of e- services including customer- friendly i-Phone applications.

Kahramaa recently announced various e-services including building permits and connection services tracking via Kahramaa website, bill payment via phone and website, residence certificate for admission purpose, and tender purchase via website.

Kahramaa customer services manager Nasser al- Mohannadi  said the corporation constantly implemented innovations to sustain high level of customer services.

The annual meeting of customer-oriented government and public sector utility organisations aims to discuss issues related to customer services, including skills and roles of officials in dealing with customers in vital sectors.

The objectives of the workshop were the establishment of services to improve and augment customer service in GCC countries, enhancement of the customer service department and ensuring customer satisfaction.
