Kahramaa president Essa bin Hilal al-Kuwari yesterday underlined the importance of improving customer services in the water and electricity sectors.

Speaking at the opening session of the sixth edition of the workshop on ‘customer services in electricity & water sectors in GCC,’ al-Kuwari said the electricity and water sectors were vital for the development of every country and those involved in the two fields should come out with creative and innovative ideas, and programmes to improve the services.

The two-day workshop, attended by senior officials of the GCC electricity and water departments is organised by Kahramaa at Sharq hotel.

The annual event is hosted by GCC countries on rotation. 

The delegates at yesterday’s meeting reviewed proposals from member states on the development of booklets and literature on customer services.

They also exchanged their ideas and experiences pertaining to the customer service improvement and satisfaction.

Senior Kahramaa official Sheikha al-Mulla highlighted the use of social media to enhance customer services. 

A presentation on the use of Oracle Applications for multiple and hassle-free customer services was given by Mike J Ballard, Oracle’s senior director of the Utilities Strategy.

Head of customer services team at workshop Khalid al-Mohannadi spoke on the challenges faced in the arena across the GCC. He welcomed the participating delegates and emphasised the importance of the annual meeting.

The annual meeting of customer-oriented government and public sector utility organisations aims at discussing issues related to customer services, including skills and roles of officials in dealing with the customers of the vital sectors. 

The objectives of the workshop are the establishment of services to improve and augment the customer service at the utility sector in the GCC countries, enhancement of the customer service department and to ensure customer satisfactions.
