Alex Cudlin also won the second race of the fifth round of Qatar International Road Racing Championship (QIRRCH) and has hauled in a total of 50 points this weekend. The defending champion only needs 4 more points in the next round to secure the title again for a third straight time.
With Nasser al-Malki retired owing to a bike trouble in the second lap of the race, Cudlin race from pole to podium was a relaxed one. Al-Malki broke the valve of his rear wheel and lost the pressure of the tyre.
“It was a really good race. It was strange at the beginning but when I realised that Nasser had a problem with his bike, for me it was a good result. I was able to lap at consistence pace and I didn’t have to push to the maximum,” Cudlin said at the end of the race.
Cudlin won the race 6.002 seconds ahead of Nina Prinz. The German rider made a great effort to be again in the podium despite a problem with her shoulder.
“This race was much harder than the previous one with the pain in my shoulder but I am really happy about the points and the second position. It is unbelievable for me,” she said after the race.
Saeed al-Sulaiti finished in third place. The winner of 600cc class, Fahid al-Sowaidi, finished fourth.
Alex Cudlin leads the championship with 224 points. Nina Prinz is in second place with 132 and Saeed al-Sulaiti is in third place with 127 points. The next round of the championship will be held on June 7-8.
