US Ambassador Susan Ziadeh recently worked alongside non-profit organisation, Injaz Qatar to deliver the latest sessions of the business leaders campaign (BLC) to 100 students from the Amna Bint Wahab Independent secondary school for girls.
Ziadeh emphasised the importance of having a thorough understanding of culture and language, respecting time and the value of self-reliance.
She spoke to students about looking to peers, teachers and elders as role models and encouraged students to seek knowledge from those around them.
“The US believes in the spirit and power of entrepreneurship, especially among young people. We commend HH the Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, for making entrepreneurship a cornerstone of the Qatar National Vision 2030,” Ziadeh said.
“Organisations like Injaz Qatar inspire and nurture the next generation to succeed in a more globalised, interconnected world.”
The BLC provides a platform for senior executives to engage with secondary independent schools, enabling them to share their professional journeys, success stories and challenges, equipping students with valuable life and career skills while inspiring them for professional success, explained a spokesperson.
Injaz executive director Aysha al-Mudehki commented: “Ambassador Ziadeh delivered an inspirational speech to the students of Amna Bint Wahab Independent School for girls, giving them valuable practical advice on how to develop oneself, highlighting the importance of always learning and having the confidence to take initiative. She motivated students about responsibility towards their community and seeking professional success.
“At Injaz Qatar, it is our mission to link youth with successful role models from the business sector, all of which will have a positive return on Qatar’s future and we are truly grateful to Ambassador Ziadeh for her important contribution to the BLC.”
The campaign is aimed at the interaction between business and social leaders with schools throughout the country and will include senior executives such as Qtel HR director Bothaina al-Ansari and Citibank managing director and CEO Izzat Dajjani.
BLC, launched earlier this year by Injaz Qatar chairwoman Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser bin Khaled al-Thani, is currently running in five local independent schools and two universities reaching over 1,000 students.
