Doha Film Institute supported the screening of the film, Microphone, organised by Northwestern University in Qatar recently.
The director, Ahmad Abdalla (pictured), was present at the screening and answered questions from students.
DFI and NU-Q will help educators organise screenings and Q+A’s with filmmakers on campuses and schools/colleges.
DFI can bring its extensive network of international and regional filmmakers into Qatar’s education system, to bring the film industry to students and aspiring filmmakers in Qatar.
Abdalla said that his film reflects the situation in many countries around the world.
“Hence I was keen to meet students and learn how people here see this film from their perspective and how they look at underground art.”
DFI is also strengthening collaborations with Community College of Qatar, Qatar University and Qatar Academy, offering a platform to engage and educate people on film and making of film from the perspective of filmmakers.
