Regatta Sailing Academy (RSA), at its RYA Training Centre, North Beach, Intercontinental Hotel West Bay, is offering up to 50 Qatar Academy students between the ages of 11 and 15 years an opportunity to “learn a new skill” as it takes part in the “Week Without Walls” programme. This forms part of the sailing academy’s community service, says a release.
“Under the guidance of RSA’s qualified sailing instructors, boys and girls will have the opportunity on Thursday from 10am to 1pm to try out dinghy sailing, yachting and navigation,” says the release.
“This opportunity will involve individual as well as team challenges - introducing students to skills which are mentally as well as physically demanding while giving them a new experience and appreciation of their environment, such as weather forecasting, tides and sea state,” it adds.
Intercontinental Hotel general manager Andreas Pfistery is offering as his contribution to the “Week Without Walls” programme lunch to the students of Qatar Academy after their sailing experience with the Regatta Sailing Academy.
The Week Without Walls programme centres around outside-of-the-classroom learning
